Fun on the river weaver

1st August 2008

A very serious problem arose when we needed to install a new sewage treatment plant for a group of cottages on an island in the River Weaver, where the only access is by foot.
The only way we could get the new system onto the island was by floating it on a British Water barge and pontoon. Everything was planned down to the smallest detail and the work ran smoothly (although it took hours to get the digger across!)

While installing the new system, a passing yacht became stuck in mud but it was no trouble for a seven tone excavator and a team of Serious engineers - it was freed in no time.

The new system works really well - releasing only clean water into the river. The end result is much better for the environment, which is what we are all about.
