This is the preferred option if the connection cost to the nearest mains sewer isn’t prohibitive.

If the mains sewer is below the level of the house, a connection can be made using gravity alone.

But, if the mains sewer is above the level of the property to be connected, a pump has to be used to raise the waste to the required level.
